Connecting computer speakers to HDTV

I am having issues connecting my 2.1 speakers to my lg led tv. There is an optical out and audio in. There are also 2 RCA AV in ports. I purchased an RCA Y cable with female jack so I can connect my speakers but it is still not working. My lg tv model is 37LS5600. Any suggestions? Thanks

It's very simple: TV OUT (MUST BE OUT) TO SPEAKER IN.

Must be Out to In, cannot be In to Out or out to out.

Back of the speaker (where cables go in) too dark to see anything.
