Dear experts:
I have an old Philips TV (attaching a link to its rear panel) and a newer DVD player (attaching link of its rear panel). What is the best way of connecting the two? Using a cable box that receives the signal from the wall and connects to the TV via a SCART cable. I just want to be able to watch DVDs, that is all. No recording.
Any help will be appreciated.

Solution
HDMI and DVI are the same except there is no audio. That means you can get a cable with HDMI at the DVD end and DVI at the TV end for video. You will also need an audio cable with 2 RCA plugs at the DVD end and a 3.5mm stereo plug at the TV end. You may need to adjust the DVD player menu to get sound.
