Connecting the TV to the laptop

I'm trying to have live streaming from my TV to my laptop. so I tried to connect my TV to my laptop through HDMI but nothing pull up or showing.

Can I connect them via HDMI port or there's another way so i can live stream on youtube or justinTV... etc?Please!

HDMI should be appropriate. Do you hear the windows connect tone when you plug/unplug the TV into the laptop? Does it show up in the device manager?

Couple simple trouble shooting things -- try a different HDMI cable. Try a different device on that HDMI port -- DVD player, game console, etc. Verify that the HDMI port on the TV is working.

Sometimes the order that you connect matters. Try selecting the HDMI input and then boot the laptop. Try it the other way.
Try a different HDMI input.
If your laptop resolution is too high for the TV it won't work so set the HDMI as your 2nd display and adjust the resolution to the native resolution of the TV (it will be in the specs).
