I'd like to get a converter that doesn't need the IR.
Cox offers a couple of different ones... Scientific
Atlanta and one other.

Which converters work directly?

THanks. : -)

You mean via Serial connection?

AFAIK, Cox does not enable Serial control on any of it's boxes.

That sounds right. I mean I've heard that before.
I wonder if there is a hack. I miss a lot of programs.
Cat interference.

I've never heard of a hack for a cable box that I'd be willing to try
(since Cox owns the converter, not you...).

Maybe a really strong version of one of the "IR tents" that you can find
if you search around would help.

Cat interference isn't an issue for me, since I have young children too.
My A/V equipment has to be simultaneously baby-, toddler-, and
preschooler- safe, and as a side affect is cat safe as well ;)
