Cooling pad blowing air in

I am confused. when a cooling pad blows air in doesn't it effect the hot air that is being blown out.

Doesn't the hot air get pushed back inside?

Cooling pads typically blows air up the open vents on the underside of the laptop. If there are no open vents then all it is doing is merely cooling the underside plastic / metallic panel.

If the laptop was not drawing in enough air into the vents, then yes the laptop cooling pad should help lower temps. On the other hand, if as much air as possible is being drawn into the laptop's vents, then the cooling pad would have no effect other than cooling the underside of the laptop.

No. Most cooling pads blow air up into the air intake vents which are usually placed on the bottom of the laptop. The exhaust vents are usually located on the side or back of the laptop.

well my laptop only has air vents under the bottom so, is it blowing up air inside, against the pushed hot air

Interesting! What laptop do you have? If air is taken in on one side of the bottom of the laptop, and exhausted out the other side, perhaps you could get a cooling pad with 2 fans, and either turn off the fan above the exhaust vents, or reverse its direction to help draw out the warm air from the exhaust vents.

I'm not sure I've seen such a laptop, there must be something on the side or the back, unless, of course it's a sealed Macbook, that overheats.
