Core i5 520m vs core i3 330m?

hi everyone
m confused btw 2 laptops
1st is sony vaio EB1E9E its core i3, 4gb and 320 gb
2nd is acer as 5740G core i5 520m, 3gb and 320gb
please help me out as soon as possible.

Ermm... may I know what you are confused about? The Sony laptop has a slower processor and has one more Gig of Ram as compared to acer and thats it???

i am mechanical engineer
i use my laptop for some official work like working with software ansys pro e and autocad and for entertainment as well

Take the one with i5. It's more powerful and autocad needs power.

Thanks for the information, errmm... don't really know where should I start from...
Firstly, since you are going to use it for work it must be reliable ( You won't want your project to be lost if your computer hang) I would personally recommend the sony laptop.(Acer are getting better and better though) If we are talking about value here, I would say that Acer Wins hands down. I looked at the specs of the sony laptop and it wasn't that impressive, It has a integrated intel HD graphic and if you are intending to play games like COD6 on it you can forget about it. The acer 4740g has a number of different model, some has ATI graphic card and some has Nvidia 310M Geforce card may I know which one are you looking at? In your case I would advice you to invest more money and get a better laptop though.

Errmmm... just to add on, If you are able to afford a better laptop. I strongly encourage you to go for laptops like HP's elitebook, Dell's XPS or Sony
