Correct preamp input?

I just bought a Sony S TR – DH1 20 receiver, and I am trying to hook up my old Technics SL-1200MK2 turntable... I connected it through a Pyle PP444 preamp to the MD-Tape input, but the sound is very low... What am I doing wrong?

Signal from a turntable tend to be low, if it's just a little bit low, don't worry about it. Look for a GAIN CONTROL on the Sony (if it has one) to turn up the MD-Tape input only. Often a receiver have such controls to balance the different signal input levels.

Silly question: This Pyle needs a power plug, you did that right? right.

Try connecting that Pyle pre-amp to the input on your Sony marked SAT/CATV. That should work better.
