Corrupted photos!

Is there any type of software that can fix/repair corrupted jpegs?My mom had about 300 photos on her computer , which is xp home!She booted it up today and now nothing will show,just a generic thumbnails.I've tried 3 different photo programs but it claims not a valid jpeg or bitmap file!Help Please!!!!!!
