I'm new to building my own pc so excuse my ignorance. I plugged my Logitech z906 into the Creative ZX soundcare; i installed and updated all the software for the soundcard but whenever i go to test the speaker only my front 2 work, the middle one and rear speakers are silent during the "test". So i imagine the soundcard is just not picking up my middle and rear speakers ? I have set my sound options to 5.1 in both the soundcard software and windows sound options. Does any1 know how to fix this ?

*Sigh*

Okay, so first off, you only have 2 ears, you only need 2 speakers, or driver if you're talking about headphones.

Soundcards literally do what your motherboard does already, except the motherboard does it 5 times better.

The 7.1 you are experiencing is a total placebo, in fact, and I'm sorry to say this but, most of the soundcard/surround sound industry is held up by placebo. You've just wasted your money.

If you actually want a good surround sound/recording experience, get good headphones/microphone from a company that is known for their audio (Sennheiser, Shure, etc), an AMP and a DAC.

Another thing, when you buy headphones because they "offer more base/mids, highs, etc", please do not be fooled. Any decent headphones can do that with something called equalizers. With equalizing software, you can easily make a profile that suits what you want, never waste your money on a soundcard again.

On the 7.1 thing, you can get almost the same amout of quality you get with the Commander and the soundcard, with apple headphones (yes, the default ones that come with their products) and changing the in-game settings. Most games have an option to change so you get that surround sound effect.

Next time you're thinking about buying somethings audio related, plead, JUST PLEASE, do some research. (I mean that in the nicest way possible, I was once fooled by the many placebos and other factors that are took into account in the audio industry.
