So I've decided I want to get rid of cable. I already have a Roku and stream most of my entertainment through that with Netflix and Amazon Prime. I recently tried a 7 day subscription with SlingTV and I absolutely loved the service. My only issue is not having the ability to DVR shows. I've looked into the TiVo Premiere, but I'm not sure I'd be able to use it to DVR live television from SlingTV.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can DVR live TV being streamed via SlingTV? Also, I'd rather not have to result to KODI. Its great and so convenient, but the legal grey area its in makes me not want to have to deal with the ensuing legal mess that is bound to happen. I mean, we all remember napster, right?

Anyways, any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your input.

Do you have to record a program that you can watch on demand anytime you want?
Since KODI is just a program to allow you to find already available streams it isn't like Napster since you don't download anything. The websites that have the videos may be quasi legal but I am not sure you watching it is.

Basically what I am looking for is something as similar to a cable provider DVR as possible. My parents want to completely get rid of cable, so I want to set up something that they can easily get used to. If it were for myself I'd just use an external hard drive to record and playback video, but that would be a little over their head.
