Defective 5040

We had a lightning hit a couple of days ago, and now I discover that my
5040 cannot contact the network, nor can it be pinging from another
computer on the network. Has anyone had any experience having units
repaired? My guess is that the fixed cost repair price will be $99, the
same price as a reconditioned unit.

How long before my unit will stop working, since it cannot update?
Unless they have a reasonable repair program, I may just get rid of it.
I don't really use it that much. Everything else on it works except the
network Ethernet port.
