Solved! Dell 1640 XPS Black screen- beep pattern: 3-1-4-6

Hi I get a black screen when I boot up my system. My computer gets hot and I get a blue screen when I hook up my computer to an external monitor for a little while. The stop code reads: video tdr failure. It wants to reboot and the black screen comes on again. I perform the test where you touch the D key and start button at the same time and the system does show 4 colors. I also performed the test where you touch the FN button and start button and the system beeps in this pattern: 3-1-4-6 beep

That's a pretty old system, most likely thing is exactly what the message told you, video card failed.
