Hi Guys,
I have a Dell E5440 with a damaged screen (factory defect, verticle lines down the centre of the screen) and want to replace the screen. This isn't a question about replacing the screen, just the type of screen I can use.

The current screen is at an awful 1366x768 resolution. There was an optional 1600x960 screen for the same model of lapotp when purchasing.

Would I be able to swap out my old screen with a new 1600x960 screen? They use the same connectors according to a website, but they also warn to ensure that the screen is the same resolution as the current one before purchasing, which caused my concern.

Thanks for the help guys, trying to improve this laptop; already put an 850 EVO into it.

That was the website I was on :) I'll try to get onto Dell live chat, but for some reason I can imagine them saying I can't and to send it into a service center or something....

Hi Shain,

having exactly the same vertical lines on screen problem and currently considering to upgrade my E5440's LCD also.

Search the web but didnt find anything that reflects to change or use a different LCD-cable like what I have now with the current HD LED WXGA (1366x768)...

I could replace the LCD by myself but before ordering a compatible higher-res HD+ LCD, I want to make sure I will have no surprises... :)

So, have you been able to get a confirmation about the LCD-cable?

Thx and regards,
Gabor

Both of the LCD screens use exactly the same connector and should be compatible. However no seller has promised me that it would be compatible.. :(((

I have exactly the same problem, Dell Latitude E5440 with 1366X768 defective screen (vertical white lines). I successfully swapped the 1600X900 Matte screen. the connectors are a 100% match, and it worked flawlessly! the Bios shows now the new screen as 1600X900 as well as win 10. for those of you who are trying to perform the same, be assured this is a 100% working solution since the E5440 was originally released with the 2 screen versions, it seems the VGA, MOBO, LCD cable are all same, so it's a matter of simple 2 minutes swapping. Disregard, all the sellers that warn that this will not work, cause it does. if anyone requires more details, or photos as proof, let me know.
