Helping a friend install a new SSD in his Dell G3 laptop and when I was removing the HDD the SATA cable unplugged. It has some blue film on top of the cable and it doesn't have a connector to make the cable stay stay in the SATA slot. There is a white hinge thing that I can push on top of the cable but it still unplugs. I'm not sure what to do. If anyone knows what I should do to connect it let me know. Cheers.

Only two possible things, the connector actually broke, or you are not inserting it in properly. Make sure the cable is going in the right area under that white retaining clip. If you can't figure it out, see if a friend/relative that knows computers look at it and see if they can see something you are not. Or bring it to a PC shop, I doubt they will charge you much if anything to look over that connector.
