Dell inpiron cooling fans working?

Hello, I have an inspiron 8200 it cut out after time of use I don't remember noticeing fans come on! Should they com on straight aWay or after a time? Cheers people

They should not come on unless the heat sensor detects a temperature that requires extra cooling.
