dell insipiron screen issue

i switch on my dell inspiron 6400 after dell's loggo the brightness turns low or null which requires sunlight to access my computer ;does it need a screen replacement, plz help

Most likely the screen itself is okay but it needs a new backlight fitting behind it. If you've never done this before I suggest you ask someone else to do it for you who knows what to do and where to get the correct replacement backlight from.
