Dell inspirion 3520 upgrade

So about two years ago I got a dell inspirion 3530 for basic school work. It was slowest machine I've ever used. A couple weeks ago, I go to turn it on and I'm greeted with a series of beeps. Quick search on my phone indicates that my motherboard has failed. So I'm faced with two options, pay $150 for a new board. Or buy a new laptop and scrap the old one. I'm pretty sold on the idea of a new laptop. So I'm looking for a replacement that will be 100x faster than the inspirion. I was thinking maybe going for a quad core and 4 gb of ram. However, my budget is $500. If someone can help find the fastest laptop for that price, that would be great.

for that budget, you could get a quad core laptop powered by an amd apu that is not only much faster than your inspirion, but could also handle some current games at a decent fps. Try to get a system with an a-10 5745 like this one
