I am confused between these two laptops,
1.)
Dell Inspiron 3543 :
- 15.6" Display
- Intel Core i7-5500U (2.40 GHz, 4MB L3 Cache, up to 3.00 GHz)
- 8GB RAM 1600MHz

2.)
ASUS K450JN-WX019D
- 14" Display
- Intel Core i7-4710HQ (2.50 GHz, 6 MB L3 Cache, up to 3.50 GHz with Turbo boost)
- 4GB RAM 1600MHz

Both are equipped with 1TB HDD and GeForce 840M GPU.

I am from India and both of those are from Thailand with 2 year International Warranty.

Do not go for an ASUS laptop. They try to fleece you for upgrades.

Especially this model of laptop does not have user-accessible slots for upgrading RAM. And when you try to go to their service center to upgrade RAM, they charge you 50% over the market value with only 1 year warranty on the upgrades. 1 year warranty is a joke when most reliable RAM manufacturers give consumers atleast 3-5 years of warranty. If the RAM falters, atleast you are covered within the lifetime of the laptop.

Similar RAM modules are available at much lesser prices with lifetime warranty from stores that are just a few feet away from the service center. Dell on the other hand is very transparent about their policies and is a trust-worthy and reliable name, probably the reason why most businesses stick to Dell and Lenovo.

If you call their service number prior to purchase they claim that you can purchase your upgrades and have them done at no cost as the product is under warranty. Then, when you approach a service center they insist you have to purchase it from them. The call center executive would conveniently forget to log that aspect of your conversation in the transcript and when you call back post-purchase, they will make a U-turn on you.

The processor ASUS uses is more powerful but with just 4GB of RAM you will not be able to extract full performance from it. And for any upgrade you have to be ready to get fleeced by ASUS.

I have escallated this issue and asked for call-back from a senior support executive. Will post back if something turns up.

Edit: Got the call-back but is wasn't very useful repeated the same crap that its ASUS Policy, etc. Suggested mailing ASUS Support @ support-in@asus.com. Did that over a week ago. They did not even have to courtesy to reply to my email either way. 0 Stars for Customer support.
