My laptop runs once I power it on but my LCD screen remains blank. I have connected to an external monitor and it works. I have replaced the inverter, the display cable, the LCD, ram module, drained all the power by removing the battery, replacing the CMOS battery, and just recently the motherboard. The same exact problem persists no display just blank. I have pressed the f8 key and still no display. I don't want to give up on this laptop just yet but I have replaced everything and nothing seems to make it work again. Can somebody please help me if you have had the same problem and fixed it. Your help will be greatly appreciated thank you.

"I have pressed the f8 key and still no display"

MMMMMM ... it's been a while since I've used a 6400 but my memory is that you have to have the function key depressed when you hit the f8 key. In other words Function + f8.

It might be that your backlight has blown/been broken. consider taking it to a computer specialist to get it repaired or try and replace it yourself.

We can easily check if it is the backlight because if you look carefully after you turn it on you should just barley be able to see elements on the screen.
