Hello! My Dell Inspiron n7110 laptop DC Power jack needed to be replaced so I ordered a new one online but to my disappointment the one i received was an 8 pin instead of the needed 5 pin version.
My question to you is: Can i connect my new 8 pin, 7-cables Power jack to my old Power Jacks 5 pin plastic part, and if yes which of the 7 cables need to be connected? See pictures of the DC Power jacks below.

That's tough. Depending on the actual spec of the part, it may or may not work.
When dealing with power/power jacks on laptops specifically, you'd want an identical replacement

It's going to be trial & error. If it works, it'll either be the 5pins on the left, or the 5 pins on the right........ but I wouldn't hold my breath that it'll work unfortunately.

Hi, why you don't show a picture of your actual connector instead of an image from the Internet?
