This laptop only has a single audio port, as a lot of newer laptops do. I bought a SteelSeries 3HV2 Headset for use with gaming. The headset is SUPPOSED to come with an adapter for using the headphone and microphone port with a single port device, however, when I got it home, the adapter wasn't in the box. I bought the headset on Clearance at my Wal-Mart and they won't let me return it either. I contacted SteelSeries, and they won't let me buy, nor give me a replacement adapter.
I tried buying an adapter (http/www.ebay.com/itm/271591474651?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) and this is where my problem lies. My laptop will not detect the mic is plugged in with the adapter. The headphones work perfect, but the mic does not. Another thing, any movement of the adapter in the plug causes my volume to automatically decrease, and increase on its own.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the proper RealTek audio driver and it did nothing to fix it.
Is there any way to fix this, either by buying another adapter, or some other software issue?
