Need a laptop for college, will be using the computer mostly for writing papers, searching the internet, and creating presentations, etc. Narrowed my search for an Intel i7, Windows 10 compatible, 1TB or greater hard drive, 8-12GB memory, Bluetooth enabled, backlit keyboard, and optical cd/dvd drive down to two models. Deciding between Dell Inspiron 15.6" at Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-15-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-silver-matte/8963046.p?id=1219698441022&skuId=8963046) and Toshiba Satellite S55T-C5276 15.6" at Staples (http://www.staples.com/Toshiba-Satellite-S55T-C5276-Laptop/product_1674138). Which is the better buy for college student work, best value for my money, and more likely to last/reliability? I have heard mixed reviews about both brands and can't decide which will be the better quality for my money.

Both devices have nearly identical specifications. Toshiba is not exactly well-known for being a high-quality brand anymore, so I'd go for the Dell.

If you are open to a more expensive alternative, consider the Lenovo Y50 series:

The cheapest tier, at $999, already comes with a powerful quad-core i7 (unlike your two choices here which are all dual-core i7s), and a GTX 960M graphics card.
