Dell Laptop / Projector Issue

I have a Dell Inspirion 17 laptop. When I'm on the internet and switch to another link or change screens while playing games, my laptop screen turns gray and starts to blink. Sometimes I can press the projector button on the keypad and it will stop the screen from blinking and bring me back to my games/facebook. Lately, I have to reboot the computer to clear the screen altogether.

Any Suggestion?

Does this only happen when play games?
What games are we talking about here?
