dell latitude e5430 unable to detect multiple monitors

I have a Dell latitude e5430. To match compatibility with some software, I had to downgrade from windows 7 to windows xp. Now the laptop has lost its dual monitor capability. Not only will it not automatically detect a second monitor like it did when it ran windows 7, the "properties" option in display properties>settings>advanced>monitor is entirely unavailable. I am using this docking station: http/accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=331-7947 . Without the docking station the dual monitor capability similarly does not work. Help needed. Thanks.

When you downgraded, did you reinstall the video driver?

yes I reinstalled the video driver, with no luck
