Dell Latitude E6400 upgraded to Windows 7 now doesn't recognize another monitor

My laptop was updated to Windows 7 through the tech department. They have no time for me. Now I have a laptop that is useless for presenting. I cannot get my laptop to hook up to any projector. It doesn't recognize it, and says there is only 1 monitor, the one on my laptop. I have tried F8, however, as I said, it does not recognize it.
