Dell Lattitude e7440 shut down on itself

Hello,

I am a Dell lattitude e7440 user. It has never given any problems in past 2 years, however, today it simply shutdown on its own. It seemed hot, so i let it cool. Funny thing is, the charger's pinebd glows white, when it is not attached to laptop. The moment i attach it, it stops glowing. Start glowing again when i disconnect both ends and replug to power socket.
Meanwhile, the laptop has not started again. Please suggest what could be the problem.

In case the adapter light goes off as soon as you connect it to the system then there might be an issue with the charging port or the charging pin on the motherboard.
