Dell no longer outputting video through dell e-port dock.

my dell laptop is no longer outputting video through the dock after some driver updates. I tried to revert the driver (synaptics) but now it says it "cannot find synaptics MST DP hub IC" so it won't install. If I connect the monitor directly to the laptop, it is ok, just not through the dock. Sound and USB work fine on the dock. Any help would be appreciated.

go to display settings and press the detect displays with the dock connected...
