Dell XPS 13 - changing hard drive

I'm interested in Dell XPS but their pricing for a 256gb version is ridiculous vs. 128gb.

I have a 256gb SSD lying around and was curious how easy it is to swap the drive AND to image the original hard drive on the new one? Including ensuring the same Dell Windows license comes across plus all other details (for resetting at a later point, etc).

Also, my other option is to get a MacBook Air plus a Win10 license. Is that workable?

First of all, check to see what format is needed for the ssd.
Here is a tutorial which indicates that the XPS 13 needs a M.2 ssd

If you buy a Samsung m.2 replacement, they offer a ssd migration tool that will do the job.
You will need a usb to m.2 adapter cable to attach.

Crap. M2 drives are more expensive. I'll look into that cable.
