So the XPS 13 inch touch screen model with 3200x1800 resolution expectedly gets less battery than the 1080 model. My question, as a prospective buyer, is in theory could you not get the higher res model and just turn the resolution to 1080 when you wanted longer battery life? I am trying to decide between which model to get and was just wondering if that would work. Thanks.

The QHD version of the XPS 13 uses more power simply due to the fact that the screen has more pixels. Each pixel requires power and since there are more of them compared to a 1080p screen. Simply lowering the resolution to 1080p does not turn of pixels on the QHD screen otherwise you are going to see a lot of little tiny black dots all over the place.
