I have a Denon DCM 420 that quit working several years ago. I took it to the repair shop and they diagnosed it with a bad spindle motor. I could not afford to repair it at the time. Does this sound like a reasonable diagnosis and is this something that I can do myself or does it take special alignment? I am very handy and have built amplifiers from kits.

Solution
I suspect you won't be able to find the part for a 1993 CD changer. If you did the laser on it is pretty old and could fail quickly. If you need a CD changer buy a new one. They only make cheap ones now so it would maybe cost $130-170.
Or just subsrcibe to a music streaming service.
Or rip your CDs and play the files.
