Hey all,

I'm looking to get a laptop use for my remote development work. I spend much of my day using Visual Studio 2015, VScode, and Google Chrome.

I'd like a large SSD, 512gb would be nice, 8-16 GB RAM. I'm a little out of the hardware world now, so could tell me if this looks good? It seems to me like it's a pretty decent bang for the buck, but I don't know a lot about ASUS hardware.

Thanks!

Naw the brands mean very little - they are all made by the same factories. I forget what they call them, but they make most of the parts for most of the laptops out there. There is like a 3 letter acronym for them, can't remember. Point is laptops aren't made by the brand on the lid.

Honestly laptops are kind of a crap shoot. Newegg has a really good search filter. From there you can select things like 6500HQ, and see what comes up, then you can cross search amazon and such to find a good price.

Seems like more than you need.

I don't believe you need a 960m, or any graphics card at all.
You can easily add an SSD to any build, so don't let that be a big factor in your purchase.

You can't add a true quad core processor though, and i think you'd really benefit from it.

Do you see how it says 6500U? That means low power. You really want a 6500HQ for a true quad core.
