Digital Adapter on HD TV without a HD dvr box

Will I get a high quality picture on my 46" Samsung series 6, 6900 LED TV using only a digital adapter or will I also need an hd dvr box?

Not exactly sure what you are asking, digital adapter to what? There are many "digital adapters". You don't need dvr to use the TV, that's only for recording.

What I mean is: will the signal coming from the digital adapter give me as good a picture as the signal from a hd top-set box? I do not want to degrade the picture quality that I currently get from having the hd-dvr top-set box.

Are you asking if there will be a quality change if you add the DVR in the middle? No, it will look the same.
