Solved! Disappearing sound from DVD disc

Hello, having played a dvd disc with success on my samsung laptop, it now is playing with no sound at all but excellent vision! Please help! It has been through the post (mail); would this have damaged it at all?

is your windows volume set to mute? do you have the volume turned up?
is your dvd player software's volume set to mute? do you have the volume turned up?
does your laptop have speakers? are you sure that they work?
the movie does have sound on other devices? (its not a silent movie or homemade movie clip without sound right?)

dvd disks can be damaged but this would be noticible scuffs, scratches or other such irregularities that are easily spotted. if the movie plays absolutely fine but you don't have sound then it most likely isnt the disk.
