I would check for what programs are running the moment you start up and Windows loads. Just be VERY CAREFUL of what you mess with in this as you can turn off the wrong thing and cause all kinds of problems.

Go to "Start" and in the search box type "msconfig" (without the quotes). Click on that in the list (should be on top). When it opens, click on the "Startup" tab. Check for programs listed there that are running but may not need to be. Obviously you don.t want to mess with anything that should be running. So be very sure of any you turn off/disable.

Once done with your changes, restart the computer.
