Distorted sound

I had my computer upgraded a year ago, and ever since my sound is very distorted. It was thought mabybe my sound card had blown, tried a brand new one and the sound is still the same. What can the problem be?

Hi, thanks for replying. Sorry, forgot to mention that it is onboard to motherboard. The driver, I used the cd that I got with the motherboard - unless the supplier packed the wrong cd driver. I dont know how to find the break in the lead - any suggestions.

well if ure onboard is fine, then maybe its your speakers????

Thanks. i have tried three sets of different speakers, still got the distorted sound. Even took one set and plugged it into my laptop immediately and the sound was fine on the laptop
