gotta second handbrake. gui for casual use...cli for batch encoding or advanced users...might check out ripbot in case it is better. already put a little time into creating a batch script to do a directory at a time with handbrake cli...so it'll have to impress me to switch at this point, and probably do batch.
for the record, i mostly encode home vids for archival purposes + make a small/lq encode for html5 embedding (.ogm for now, prob have to do 264 as well, realistically).
