Hi,

Wondering if anybody can help with an issue.

Im trying to connect two laptop power adapters together but have some concerns.

They are both 19.5v, just the internal wiring is different.

The original Dell laptop adapter has 3 internal wires running through it, Black, White and Green but the other adapter I want to connect it to has 1 fat white cable and inside that 1 thin white cable.

Are these compatible, if so which to I connect to which?

I don’t really feel like getting blown up today.

Thanks in advance.

If the power supply is a DELL, not a good idea as the third wire is required on dell, and the supply will not operate correctly without it.
it is a " communication" and detection lead. also, if you are trying to use a generic supply with a DELL notebook, it will not charge the battery if it detects that you are not useing the right power supply.

Thanks for the reply,

Yes the laptop is a dell. The battery is already damaged so I want to use the power adapter to simply power the laptop, no charging necessary.

Do you reckon that as I don't need this function that it I wont need to connect the third wire to anything and simply connecting the two others will power the laptop ok?

Thanks again.
