DLP TV fail

I've been using a Samsung HLT5075SX/XAA as a computer monitor.

Last night there was a 'popping' sound, the picture went off, and there was a smell of something burning.

Now the TV displays nothing and when I turn it on I can hear the color wheel ramping up, but the green light in the corner just blinks for a while before turning the TV off, then on again, and repeats.

This happens three times before the three lights in the corner all come on, blinking.

I'm thinking maybe it's the DLP lamp, but that seems inconsistent with the 'POP' sound and the strange odor.

Are these symptoms consistent with an expired lamp... or something else? What should I do?

consistent with a burned transistor on the circuit board. need to call the service center...need a tech or a repair shop.
not user serviceable.
