I currently have a gaming PC that cost me over $1000. Lately I've been wanting something that I can carry around with me. I was just wondering what I should get; laptop or tablet? Which ones would you recommend. I also don't really want to spend over $1000 on whatever I get. Let me know what you think I should get.

Also I am a student so I do kinda need a portable device.

Solution
Since you are a student I would recommend the Surface 3 because you can use it to read to text to you like in a PDF file. But more importantly it has the ability to record classroom lectures while you are taking notes using One Note. See the video below.

It uses a quad core Cherry Trail generation x7-Z8700 Atom CPU. The 2GB RAM + 64GB flash storage (not SSD) version starts at $500. The 4GB RAM + 128GB flash storage version costs $600. That excludes the keyboard and pen. The Microsoft Store offers a 10% discount for students.

The Core i3 version of the 12" Surface Pro 3 for $799 is another option since you can use OneNote on that tablet to do the same thing as the 10" Surface 3. The larger size means the keyboard will be larger too which would be better for larger hands. It comes with a digital unlike the Surface 3, but you still need to purchase the keyboard separately.
