hi all, in the next few days i will be getting a new headset, a sennheiser g4me zero.:wahoo:
at the moment i'm still using my old creative X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS. ive had this since 2005 and works perfect (with my cheapo headset anyway).:ouch:
my question is, do i need to upgrade? there's no mention of a headphone amp on my X-Fi, and the sennheisers are 150ohm , and im sure they need some clean power to them.
thanks for you time.:ange:

the game zero is only 50ohm impedence http://en-us.sennheiser.com/pc-gaming-headset-game-zero#product_data

generally all pc soundcards have amplifiers, just of varying strengths.

the fps should work for them fine given that 50ohm cans like the zeros are not hard to drive on decent soundcards and only rather weak onboard sound or portable devices generally has any issues with them. i would certainly try it out with your soundcard first then judge for yourself whether you think it is acceptable.

if you find it unacceptable then i'd come back here and get some suggestions and list a budget.
