All of these other companies build the console before there are many actual compelling AAA titles out. Once there are enough Shields, Ouyas, and these out there, I would think the hard core gaming devs would want to start making some content for that market. I don't have anything against a $20 - $60 title on Android, as long as there is enough high quality content to back it up and no nickel and dime microtrans crap built in.

I think if they do go for a console, it wouldn't be as powerful as the next gen systems. Making a AAA game for a underpowered system wouldn't be feasible unless the installed base was hi.
Granted if the Wii-U fails this could open some opportunity, but they would need some serious new games that you could only get on their system. Not another version of Angry Birds!
