Ok so I have an Asus laptop. Like this:

I want to get a dock for it so that I can use external monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, ect. I was looking at this:
http/www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Universal-Laptop-Docking-Station/dp/B00DNULJHW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1397439072&sr=8-2&keywords=startech+docking+station
Does this provide better performance than just using HDMI output on my laptop? The reason I ask is the bullet that says "dual independent video processing". Does that mean it has some kind of video processor/gpu in it? I'm curious because when I hooked this laptop up to a 1080p monitor it felt sluggish. I have this laptop on a ssd and its lightning quick usually but it felt slow with the hdmi monitor.
Thanks for any suggestions. I"m not looking for gaming performance upgrades, I just don't want it to bog down for office use, video playback, ect.
