Does it makes sense to purchase a third party anti-virus when Windows already have Windows Defender?

If windows was good at protecting itself then the HUGE antivirus marketplace would not exist.

If you are at all concerned about viruses then do yourself a favor and get a decent product. Avira, Avast and others only do marginal improvment to protect you better, I have seed many many infections get past them. You can find Kaspersky or Bitdefender on amazon/newegg for $20 or less if you keep on eye on their specials. You can use any year's key with the current version (so you could be an old box of 2015 antivirus, download the 2017 version of the software and use that old key with no problems).

Newegg has a 5 PC code of Kspersky for only $20: http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/Feb-0-2017/Valentine_3049dfi7_14/index-landing.html?utm_medium=Email&utm_source=IGNEFL021417&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL021417-_-EMC-021417-Index-_-E0-_-PromoWord&et_cid=31910&et_rid=2394583&et_p1=&email64=amVyZW15bGVlN0Bzb3V0aHdlc3R0ZWNrcy5jb20=
