Just like the title states, im trying to build a computer, wondering if an SSD helps maya? or fast ram?

or is it all about the processor?

thank you

Maya uses all main components so Quad core CPU would be a good place to start, Ram is also very important I would say staring at 4GB upwards, when it comes to GPU it depends on on your workload if you are using heavy amount of polygons, textures and segments I would suggest getting a Nvida Quadro card, this help when moving around in the viewport but they are very pricey!, If not get consumer level GPU card.

SSD will help reduce the loading time but again there pricey so I would recommend a Western Digital Raptor (10,000 RPM) If, Im not Sure how complex your work will be so it really depends on the sort of work your doing depending how much you want to spend.
