Does PC-cillin work with ZoneAlarm Pro (5)?

When I installed ZoneAlarm Pro a couple weeks ago, I got a message saying to not install it if I have PC-cillin also installed on my computer because they are known to have conflicting issues with eachother. I don't remember if this was referring to PC-cillin Internet Security 2004, or just the antivirus software.

I'm guessing PC-cillin Internet Security 2004 because it's probably the 2 firewalls causing the problem. Anyway, with all the popularity Zone Alarm and PC-cillin seem to have, I haven't read one issue where someone couldn't use one program because of their conflicting issues.

I currently have the latest update, which is ZoneAlarm Pro 5...yes 5, just downloaded it today. Does anybody have this, as well as PC-cillin Internet Security 2004?

If you're ready to spend $50 then I would pick up a router instead of ZoneAlarm Pro. Something like this4 port Linksys router. I have the 8 port version ($80 instead of $50) and it works great. I don't even use a software firewall and the vulnerability tests at GRC always come back clean. Nice thing about a router firewall is that there's one less program always running in the background eating up processor time.

Call Trend Micro's support line. I had the same question and called. I was told that there will be conflicts and "issues" with PC-cillin and ZA. PC-cillin has a firewall component. Also, PC-cillin is not fully functional with Mozilla browsers. Trends spec sheets indicate that it's compatable with IE and Netscape 7.0 browsers. Check this out yourself though.

I'm looking at BitDefenderPro and like what I see so far (got a free 30 day trial). Also look at eXtendia products, and AVG Anti-Virus Professional Editions and the new Zone Alarm Pro Security Suite - which contains both the firewall component and an AV program.

Other gurus here recommend Panda AV.

Good luck.
