Does the i-Soft Fanless Notebook Cooler really work?

I was wondering if the Thermaltake i-Soft Fanless Notebook Cooler actually work? I have A MSI-Gx640 and I mostly use it for gameing. I wish to find an effective cooler pad for notebook. I've also been hearing reports that the Thermaltake i-Soft Fanless Notebook Cooler doesn't really work, and infact it makes your notebook hotter. I've also heard it's in effective. Is this a myth? Or does the Thermaltake i-Soft Fanless Notebook Cooler garbage? Thanks for your time.

The reason why I ask because my friend tried it out on his computer. He may have had some sort of differnt cpu monitering sofware. but according to it it cooled down his cpu by 20 degrees, as well his gpu.
