Hi i have 2 speakers in a room and i was wondering if THIS would work to play audio through them both from my phone or would i need something like a chromecast audio kind of setup?

Is kind of like a pair of headphones, one speaker will play what you'd hear in the right ear, the other what youd hear in the left

What kind of speakers are they?

If they are not a powered pair of speakers like computer speakers then no. If they are you don't need that cable you should just be able to plug your phone right in.

it 2 separate speakers, they were both xmas gifts but one is leaning more to the high end and the other is leaning more on the low end if that makes sense?

OK what brand and model are each speaker? Are they powered?

pfft they are both Chinese no name's brands and yes they each are powered by a 12V dc in

Ok then powered speakers if they have a headphone style input will work with that splitter you got, they would not play in stereo (like split between left and right channel). Especially because each speaker is separate and independent, not part of a set. A set would have 1 cable which would split the signal for you.
