Nov 26, 2011
1. What is your budget?

Probably around $1000 or so. Could pay more if it made sense.

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

At least 13".

3. What screen resolution do you want?

Not sure.

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

5. How much battery life do you need?

Reasonably good, but not super-important.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

Some gaming capability would be good, but not the first consideration. Medium?

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

Basic productivity stuff, web browsing, maybe some light photo editing.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

256GB SSD or larger.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

2 years or so.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

Optical drive not required.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

Have always been a Lenovo fan, but open to any brand.

13. What country do you live in?

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

This laptop is for a high school student. Durability is the #1 concern.

Looking for something that is relatively durable (but not really wanting a true ruggedized unit). It needs to survive being tossed into a backpack and carried to/from school, etc.

The student's current laptop is a two year old Acer that has taken a lot of abuse. The power cord receptical is loose and the screen hinge is broken.

It would be nice to find something that had decent 3D graphics built in so they can use it for some gaming, but this isn't the most important feature.

Hello Sir,
I may not have the best solution, but this laptop is actually $999.99. The specs are actually good.
Intel Core i5 processor
8 GB LPDDR3-1600 SDRAM (onboard)
Windows 8.1 64 bit that can be upgraded to Windows X
13.3" diagonal FHD Radiance LED-backlit touch screen (1920 x 1080)
And for battery life its 12.5 hours.

I got the info from the HP website.
This is the link where you can find this $1000 dollar laptop:

Oh, and did I mention that it has a rotatable 360 degree screen?
That will survive being tried to be broken by the hinge. Probably.
