Hello,

I need some advice, my laptop is a dv7-4xxx with i7 720q and ati card. it is shutting down at boot after a few seconds, sometimes it's a few minutes, fan is spinning. Laptop has always been clean, I disassemble every year to clean dust and change thermal paste, but even with heatsink clean the CPU and GPU do go to 80~90°C during heavy usage and around 45~50 at idle. The screen is working, i can go to bios and windows when it is booting.

I would like to know if it's the motherboard or the processor. Is there any way to tell ?
I removed everything except processor and the symptoms are exactly the same boot then shutdown.

Did you take the fan case apart and clean the vents inside it. That caked up lent will make it hot. And always keep the bottom on a hard surface, they breath from the bottom. 80-90C IS TOO HOT
