I was wondering with dx12 games coming in seems my old i5 3570k ain't gonna cut it any more but was looking to try to make it last for a couple more years so I can save for a new rig with dx12 using more cores would I be better off upgrading to a i7 2700k or buying a new motherboard and overclocking my i5 full specs i5 3570k 16gb vengeance ram 1600mhz and msi gtx 960 2gb any help would be appreciated

Good quality motherboards for that will be hard to find and likely expensive due to the CPU's age. I would not bother. I have a 3570K and I don't overclock it and it runs fine.

The 3570k performs nearly as well as i5 skylakes in gaming especially with a good overclock, no reason to upgrade your cpu yet. 16gb of ram is more than enough for gaming in the foreseeable future. Upgrade when you feel your pc isn't cutting it anymore I cant determine that for you.

Yes according to the min specs, you are somewhere between min and recommended. These specs seem a bit exaggerated to me I guratee it wont use even close to 16gb of ram, it will likly perform very similar on an i5 and i7.
